Aggadic Novellae on Meggilat Esther by the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Posner-Landsberg. 19th Century
Thick tome in manuscript called "Dodi Yigaleinu" by Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Posner-Landsberg, superlative Torah scholar of great lineage.
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman was the son of Rabbi Yosef Landsberg, who served as community leader and dayan in Posen; son of Eliyahu, Av Beit Din of Landsberg; son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib, sermonizer of Posen, son of the author of Yesod Yosef. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman, who passed away in 1863, was an extremely prolific writer. In addition to the many volumes he left of his own Torah novellae, he would, "with Supreme grace," transcribe his ancestors' books.
The sanctity of his family is discussed in his work in manuscript (now for sale): My dear departed mother is from the Calipari family, daughter of my exalted and pure grandfather, Rabbi Itzik ztz"l, who was the son of Rabbi Ya'akov ztz"l, Av Beit Din of Moisling; son of the awesome and renowned Rabbi Aryeh Leibush. She would conduct herself with purity, cautious that all her movements be in accordance with the Law. From childhood, she would stay awake to listen to the studies of her righteous father, brothers, and brothers-in-law. And after joining together with the husband of her youth, to my pure and holy father, ztz"l, who studied most of the night, she ran her home with practiced caution in all the minutiae, and accepted the piety of her husband and his asceticism ..."
Rabbi Yosef Landsberg, who served as dayan in Posen, was the one to recommend the rabbinate of the city to his relative, Rabbi Akiva Eiger, after the passing of the city's rabbi - the author of Beit Shmuel HaAcharon, in 1807; and he devoted himself to this appointment. R' Shlomo Zalman studied under his illustrious father and Rabbi Aryeh Leib Tzinz, and Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lipschutz - author of Chemdat Shlomo. His son Rabbi Eliyahu was Rabbi Akiva Eiger's foremost disciple. Their families later married into each other, when R' Eliyahu married Cherkiche, daughter of Rabbi Avraham Eiger. R' Eliyahu left behind a blessing, the book "Mas'et Berachah" - Torah novellae, which remains in manuscript.
Of all the works Rabbi Shlomo Zalman left behind, the only one which has been printed is Toar Pnei Shlomo (Krotoschin, 1870).
Before is the work "Dodi Yigaleinu" on Megillat Esther, which is as yet unpublished, in autograph. This work is mentioned in Toar Pnei Shlomo, pp. 16.
