Set of Chassidic Chumashim: 'Ohr HaChaim U'Ve'er Mayim Chayim,' a Segulah Book with a Rare Approbation and Blessing From the Rabbi of Ruzhin
Chamishah Chumshei Torah with the Ohr HaChaim commentary and the book Be'er Mayim Chayim, which merited the rare approbation and blessing-promise of the holy Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, given in the last year of his life. Chernowitz, 1849-1851. Rare and sought-after set of chumashim.
"Chamishah Chumshei Torah with Targum Onkelos and Targum Yonatan ben Uziel and Targum Yerushalmi, with their commentaries ... and with Rash"i's commentary and the Ohr HaChaim's commentary, prepared by ... Rabbi Chaim ibn Attar ... and we added the Be'er Mayim Chayim commentary, prepared and established by Rabbi Chaim [b"r Shlomo of Chernowitz] ... brought [to print] ... by the leaders of Skala ..."
Before us is an extremely important Chassidic chumash. The Chassidim were particular to study from this chumash, which was intentionally printed with the two commentaries that they were accustomed to study each Shabbat: the Ohr HaChaim's commentary, and Be'er Mayim Chayim. This chumash merited the rare approbation of the holy Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, who, as is known, gave only two approbations in his entire life. In this rare approbation, the rabbi of Ruzhin blesses those who acquire this chumash: "I hereby request from our brethren, the Jewish people: Be strong and courageous, take thisֲ Torah book to place blessing in your homes, and Hash-m will assist you."
In addition, this chumash was also privileged to receive the approbation of Rabbi Chaim Hager of Kossov (Vizhnitz), the approbation of Rabbi Shlomo of Kaminka, and others.
