Attractive 18th Century Handwritten English Indenture on Vellum Dated 1775 during the reign of George III | The Document Hand signed by three selling parties with their respective wax seals | The document or deed memorializes the bargain, sale and transfer of property by Reverend John Edwards, Thomas Shittlewood, and Ann Shittlewood, to John Girton | Document is hand-signed by the selling parties at the bottom folded border next to the signors red wax armorial seals | The stated consideration is the usual nominal Five Shillings [which during the reign of King George I was a 30 gram silver coin decorated with a Laureate and Armored Bust] and "other good and valuable consideration"The Document has an ornate armorial heading "This Indenture" in large capital letters embellished with decorative flourishes; The Armorial Heading is the copper engraved Arms of the Royal Order of the Garter with the latin motto "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" meaning "Shamed be him that thinks evil of it"Document has all seals and revenue stamps attached and intact, including the elaborate embossed grey Royal tax stamp under the heading | The top edge of the document has the wavy or "indented" margin, cut as a safeguard against counterfeiting to uniquely identify the authenticity of each copy | Indenture has a red border around the document's text | Document is signed on its verso by several witnesses | Approx.
