AN ANTIQUE INDIAN KHOND STEEL FORGED CEREMONIAL AXE
An Indian hand-forged axe with a crescent-shaped steel blade engraved with decoration. The blade is fixed on a steel shaft surmounted by a small spike and ends in a ball terminal. The ceremonial axe is based on the traditional pharetri associated with the Khond peoples indigenous to central, eastern, and southern parts of India. 19th century.
Dimensions: L: 28 1/8 in., (71.5 cm.)
Condition: Very good.
