Antique Jewish Beaded Embroidery Panel. Italy, early 20th Century.
A lovely and unusual example of high-quality, antique beadwork, probably Italian, used to create a blessing panel. The central text reads: "Blessed are you when you come and blessed are you when you go".
The blessing panel's decoration is comprised of a large Italian 'shield' framing the Hebrew words and topped by a small Star of David. The entire work is executed with tiny delicate beads in shades of gold, turquoise, light blue, white and red, embroidered on perforated paper.
